Texas Erosion Supply Selects Epicor Prophet 21 to Improve Inventory Forecasting Accuracy

Erosion control distributor to leverage Epicor enterprise resource planning solution to efficiently manage building materials process

Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, today announced Texas Erosion Supply has chosen the award winning Epicor® Prophet 21® software as its new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to source, acquire, and forecast materials more accurately.

Texas Erosion Supply is a wholesale distributor of erosion control supplies. The company offers a robust line up of geosynthetics for the oil and gas industry along with a complete offering of erosion, sediment control, drainage and landscape products for site development.

Most of the materials that Texas Erosion Supply needs are out of state or out of the country, with typical lead times of 90-100 days. When Texas Erosion Supply began searching for a new ERP system, the ability to improve the sourcing, acquisition, and forecasting of those materials was important.

“Prophet 21 makes the job of forecasting as accurate as possible, removing headaches and stress. It used to take me days to put together purchase orders. With Prophet 21, it will take me minutes since all of the information is organized and ready to go. Epicor will change the way we do business.”
Kyle Sheets, President, Texas Erosion Supply

Tracking hidden costs with industry-specific software

Texas Erosion Supply’s previous system was unable to properly manage the building materials process. The company currently keeps over 1 million dollars of inventory on hand and it can get too high or low fast. “The building materials process, as our business continues to grow, becomes more of our profit center. We need to keep track of the many hidden costs in manufacturing. Prophet 21 is robust in the way it tracks, analyzes, and keeps the inventory record going,” said Sheets. Implementing the software is also going to allow Texas Erosion Supply to move more product efficiently by making the loading and receiving process easier. They will be able to pick up 1 or 2 extra deliveries a day with the added efficiency of Prophet 21.

“The Epicor Prophet 21 solution is a proven success for distributors of all sizes, and the software is becoming more powerful and valuable to companies that need a one-stop shop for their services,” said Mark Jensen, director of product management, Epicor Software. “Prophet 21 software offers a combination of features and functionality that can accurately streamline processes. Pricing, inventory and even quoting becomes automated reducing time consumption.”
